Updated to Revision 26 and i got this error

I just updated to Rev 26 and i can't run MameHub.

Try uninstall MAMEhub, make sure mamehub folder is fully deleted, then install latest version. Might just be a conflict with an older version. There's been alot of code changes recently, but things should start to settle down again within the next week or so, depending on DG's and Spoot's progress.

Note: make sure you backup your mamehub\roms folder if you have anything in it. Plus, if you have a folder called .svn inside your roms folder, make sure you delete it. Check for that first before you uninstall.

Z's suggestion is about all I can offer atm as well. I'm running newest version on Win7 x64 without issues......not the Ultimate though, but don't see that making a difference as it would include more libraries than I'm running.

This sounds like an auditing issue. A re-install shouldn't be needed.

Here's what I think happened:

1. The MAMEHub cache got corrupted (this is the first error in your log). But it doesn't cause MAMEHub to crash initially when it happens.

2. The next time you tried to start MAMEHub, it wouldn't start. This is because the cache won't load correctly when it's corrupted and will halt MAMEHub from loading. The rest of the errors in the log are all the same because they are start-up errors.

The fact that r26 was published in the meantime is incidental.

Here's my suggested path to get MAMEHub working again:

1. Delete *.dmp from mamehub\dist
2. Move all ROM files out of mamehub\roms
3. Edit mamehub\dist\mame.ini and mamehub\dist\mess.ini (change the value of rompath back to its default "rompath ../roms"
4. Restart MAMEHub

If I'm right and this is an auditing issue then the corruption is likely to happen again when you add the same ROMs with a unicode character in it to MAMEHub again. The only way to permanently resolve this issue is to identify the ROM with the unicode character in it that is breaking MAMEHub auditing and rename or remove it.

Probably it was from ADF files i hope this can be fixed soon.

I'm glad you were able to resolve your issue. I did a little more digging into this and here's what I found:

According to the log, it didn't like "byte 0xf3" which translates to this unicode letter: ó
More information on this unicode character is available here.

Note: It seems that you must view this post or thread directly and not from the "10 most recent posts" link in order to see the unicode characters in this post .

It should be possible to identify the ROM with the problem unicode character in it by using dir command. Assuming that all of your ROMs are accessible from one location, then try this from the root in a command prompt:

dir /s *ó*

I have recreated this condition and can confirm that the above procedure will work to identify the problem ROM (in Windows).
