The Nintendo Playchoice10 games have a bunch of unique controls. When you load one up, go into "controls (general)" and you'll find in the list two buttons... "SELECT" and "START." These controls are separate from the usual insert coin and start, or the game specific "Channel Select."
See, in the old school NES console, Player 1 controls everything, and starts up a game. Say it's Contra, player one hits "select" and chooses the 2 player game and then hits start. THEN player 1 and 2 are onscreen together.
But I noticed that two people can load up a PC10 game and the "select" key doesn't do anything.
I checked the "this game" config and it turns out it's default mapped to "2" key. I thought "oh, it's because it thinks it's 2 player start button." But even changing it to something else, I can't make it work.
So most Playchoice 10 games won't work in 2 player mode in MameHub because of this.
So Player 1 should be able to press "select" on their controller in these arcade games, like the original NES.
I don't think these are necessary in the nintendo VS. games, but I haven't really tested them to find out.
Note: This doesn't seem to affect NSS (Nintendo Super System aka arcade SNES), or MegaTech (Sega Genesis), as they don't config controls that way (the "this game" controls have the select type buttons, etc).

Hmm, I'll check this out tonight and see what the fix is. It's often hard to decide what player owns what buttons, so maybe the algorithm breaks down for these machines.

But I noticed that two people can load up a PC10 game and the "select" key doesn't do anything. Actually, PlayChoice-10 games always worked on MAMEHub. no and I reviewed this on April 28th, 2011 in response to your post but I must have forgotten to post the results. ;D Below are the steps to follow to get a PlayChoice-10 game going after both of the peers are connected: - Step 1 - (Peer 1) Insert coins (only Peer1 can insert coins)
- Step 2 - (Peer 1) Press '-' to select the game. (it should already be selected)
- Step 3 - (Peer 2) Press '1' to toggle which game mode (see illustration below)
- Step 4 - (Peer 1) Press '1' to start the game.
note that Step 3 is for Peer 2!Illustration of Step 3: Pic from April 28th, 2011 of no and I playing pc_ddrgn on MAMEHub: p.s. I lost the Abobo mirror match.
