You can currently record in MAMEHub by changing the Record line to 1 in mame.ini. There doesn't seem to be a naming scheme though; MAMEHub creates a /dist/inp folder and the .inp file created is called simply "1" and isn't even given an extension. It works fine, however, and even plays back properly in the corresponding version of MAME. Sometimes the .inp file desyncs though. When it does, it still plays fine through VMAME.exe (though dumping to AVI is a bit clumsy because that constantly asks for internet inputs like it's connected to MAMEHub). Other netplay builds of MAME such as MAME++ and MAME32k allow you to record an input file for a network game by simply holding Shift+Ctrl as the game starts. Is it possible to implement a feature like this for MAMEHub? It seems like this should be very simple to implement. Some versions of kaillera client software (OpenKaillera, in particular) even have a little record checkbox in the game lobby GUI, but it doesn't seem to function properly. Attachments:

Great information here. Have an upvote.
As far as adding recording to MAMEHub. I would estimate that adding a checkbox to enable recording would be easier than adding a keystroke combination to CSMAME. The checkbox would edit the value of Record in mame.ini much in the same way that the 'Set Directories' button is editing the rompath of mame.ini
The other consideration is the confusion this feature would cause versus the demand for it.
