I have 59 games yet mamehub shows only 27, why? Maybe the CRC doesn't match? Or you don't have the MESS bios if it's a MESS game

non are mess games and I don't know how to crc check with mamehub.
also I get this in the mame batch window now:
Updating MAMEHub, please be patient!!! svn: '..\roms' is not a working copy directory svn: Working copy '..' locked svn: run 'svn cleanup' to remove locks (type 'svn help cleanup' for details)
Is this the problem?

Looks like you need to run svn cleanup. I'll see if I can change the autoupdater to run cleanup every time. In the meantime, go into the svn folder in commandline and run: svn cleanup ..

just did a clean install. it said I am upgraded to revision 72.
It still is only displaying 27 of the 56 games. They all work in other mame builds but for some reason not mamehub.

[...] They all work in other mame builds but for some reason not mamehub. The cause in this scenario usually turns out to be one of two reasons: 1) The game rom .zip itself is not compliant with MAME 0.143 which is required by MAMEHub. There were some changes in the rom between when it was new and MAME 0.143. Example: The .zip file for sfiii3n went from 37.0 MB in MAME 0.141 to 130kb in MAME 0.143.2) The game rom set requires an additional bios to be available. MAMEHub auditing will not recognize a valid rom if a required bios is missing. Example: Marble Madness [marble] requires atarisy1.zip bios.
What's an example of a game that you have the zip for can't get to load? I'll show you how to verify if they are correct for MAME 0.143

the simpsons won't load, neither will x-men Alright, let's tackle the simpsons first. Here is a pic of how simpsons.zip should look like inside: The important bits are highlighted in red, the file names, file sizes and if necessary to compare the crc32. Here is the maws link for simpsons: maws.mameworld.info/maws/romset/simpsonsYou will also find the same info on the file names, file sizes and crc32's on that page. If you compare your simpsons.zip to the information I've posted above then you should be able to see a difference. The problem here is likely that your simpsons.zip is older and not compliant to MAME 0.143. Roms change over the years and get updated. While it's not always convenient that older roms don't work or get recognized, at least with MAME 0.143 compliant roms you know you're using the latest and most current version of the rom. MAMEHub, unlike some other emulators, is using current MAME/MESS technology. Also, which x-men is it you're trying to load? The 6-player version? US or World?

Edit: mine does not have simpsons.nv I'm guessing the .nv file was added to the simpsons set during this change from March 2010: 0.137: David Haywood implemented default EEPROMs to The Simpsons.

what a bummer. so i have to redownload each game that doesn't show in mamehub's list? Probably. That would also be the most practical solution. Maintaining alternate rom sets is a reality in emulation. We wouldn't want MAMEHub being stuck in the past with outdated rom sets, right? You might be able to salvage some of them by using clrmamepro. However, there's a lot of process involved so that method is recommended for rom set collectors looking to build complete sets.

I tried, it just made dummy copies for clones so it would look like a complete set (parents and clones), but I still have the problem with mamehub. Time to just head to google, at least I have all the short names since I have the old files, that will make it easier to find them all. My datfile for clrmamepro is for mame v140 not 143, that may be the problem, but I don't know where to get a new dat file
Edit: I read on another board that it is a problem with konami games after the 137 update used default eprom and need nvram files and thats what simpsons.nv and xmen.nv are. So I will try in regular mame to play each game and switch to default and see if it makes nv files and copy them to the games' zips and see if that works.
SOLVED: All I had to do was start all of the offending games in mame and then exit and check the nvram folder for the nv file and drop it into the game zip and it shows on the mamehub list!

[...] but I don't know where to get a new dat file [...] For your information, you can use any valid mame.exe (including vmame.exe in MAMEHub) to generate a dat for clrmamepro. clrmamepro will use the .exe to generate its dat using the -listxml parameter. I'm glad you were able to find a workaround that didnt involve having to download a lot of roms.
