Well, actually I was. First time with 5.0 . I clicked connect on the 'server' screen....connect button is grayed out...computer working in the background...then the screen re-displays, and connect button not grayed out.
I click the connect button again. Nothing happens. I check all my router and firewall settings. Re-do 'em. Screen still won't go away.
I wonder......the sign-on screen is below that....will it let me type in it? YES, it does. And I sign on. But I didn't know I could cos that damn server screen was in the way.
Anyone else experience this?

Anyone else experience this? I know this is a very old post but I wanted to reply anyway with the observation that this sounds like the known Windows XP ui issues. There is no cause or solution for this issue yet. The problem appears to be specific to Windows XP.

this sounds similiar to my problem i posted today.. but iam not on xp iam on vista Actually it's a little different. In the OP's case, he can get online but has a perpetual server-dialog that never goes away (it's supposed to go away when the MAMEHub logon dialog appears). The problem is compounded because the server-dialog is 'on top' and has the focus priority over the MAMEHub logon dialog. In your case (and everyone elses case who tried to connect today), the problem was that the MAMEHub service itself was not running. Unfortunately, this condition is not clear to the end-user when it occurs.

[...] add a server is down message [...] For your information, I was able to add this feature to MAMEHub.py. I don't recall the exact date but it will eventually be documented in the 'News' section of this forum after I catch up a bit there. When the 10ghost.net server is up but is not listening for connections this dialog will be displayed: Why the server can be up but the MAMEHub service won't be listening yet is explained here. For more information on how to modify/customize your MAMEHub.py for Windows users see this post here (advanced users only).
